I prefer to use (and have installed) SMPlayer ver 8.3 32-bit as I have a library if Playlists that I would prefer not to re-create, as well as familiarity with keybd controls. Thanks to all who`ve looked and responded. Strange, I`ve never had to deal with this option before through numerous installs. Once unchecked, it now opens multiple instances. SOLVED: Found there was a setting within SMPlayer under Preferences-Interface-Instances that had ``Use only one running instance`` checked by default.
